One key element in the Ecosystem is the Learning Module. The Modules are where learning gets real, where teachers and students engage in guided inquiry in rich, relevant contexts. Developing these Modules is not easy. It requires the authors to have a deep understanding both of the inquiry process and of the illustrative content to be explored in the Module. While we believe that Module-writing is not for everyone, our schools certainly do contain faculty members who are well able to collaborate effectively in this kind of work. The CGC produces modules at three levels. The goal of this collaborative module writing workshop is to produce modules at Level 2.
In Manchester we hope to produce:
- A Middle School module around the idea of terrorism and its causes and consequences. The module will bring together the subject areas of History, Psychology and Literature. As such, we are looking for participants who have expertise in teaching these subjects.
- An elementary school Science unit - topic to be announced.
